The birth of EasyRef originates from the confusion and difficulties architects face in obtaining information during their work. In the field of graphic design, there are many sharing platforms and databases, such as Dribbble, Behance, and Pinterest. However, in the field of architectural design, there are very few people who share and organize work databases, leading to fragmented information, which has become a shortcoming in the industry. Designers often search on platforms like Xiaohongshu or Pinterest, but this is not a systematic solution, resulting in the inability to quickly find relevant information whenever they discover suitable cases or assets, thus limiting further creative exploration.
In the current domestic architectural work environment, the design process is often rigid, with past design experiences being repeatedly applied, or too much time spent searching for reference before the design phase. Most companies also lack a systematic internal system for resource classification and archiving, primarily relying on individual designers for organization. This classification may be feasible for individuals to build a database, but during departmental collaboration, others cannot find the required information through keyword searches.
Similarly, in the current domestic architectural education and academic environment, similar issues are prevalent. The design process is often constrained by a rigid teaching system and limited resources, leading to restricted creativity. Most schools also lack a systematic resource classification system, making it challenging for students and teachers to find architectural documentation. EasyRef provides a platform that integrates diverse and cutting-edge design inspiration for professional designers and students, promoting the expansion of creative thinking and the efficiency of collaborative work.
EasyRef is dedicated to solving this problem by providing an ideal tool for organizing architectural knowledge through patient and meticulous work. We strive to offer a slow-paced, in-depth architectural design database, allowing users to experience the beauty of architecture without distractions. At EasyRef, there are no ads, banners, or pop-ups, only pure architecture.
Features and Development History of EasyRef
The name EasyRef stands for Easy Reference, which means providing architects with simple reference tools. We are a new team filled with challenges and opportunities. We continuously innovate, demonstrating the efficient execution of a startup. With limited resources, we have worked hard to create an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) and gradually built EasyRef's unique ecosystem.
The development history of EasyRef reflects our focus on the field of architecture and the Internet+. Founded on June 5, 2020, we concentrated on the architecture Internet+ sector. On June 20, 2020, we released the beta version of the EasyRef architectural design resource collection. On December 22, 2020, we released the Release Candidate version of EasyRef Inspiration Planet. On January 1, 2021, we officially launched EasyRef Inspiration Planet version 1.0, and on July 1, 2023, we released the beta version of EasyRef Inspiration Planet 2.0.
What Problems Does the Project Solve?
The EasyRef project aims to address a series of pain points in the field of architectural design, including:
1. Unclear design resource previews and complex download processes:Currently, the previews of design resources are often unclear, and the download process is cumbersome and time-consuming. Users need to wait for hours to obtain several GB of compressed files through Baidu Cloud downloads provided by most websites, and after the download is complete, they still need to manually unzip and search for files, resulting in high time costs and low efficiency.
2. Chaotic classification management:Existing resources are scattered across various folders on local computers, making reuse and retrieval inconvenient, with complex classification structures. Even after organizing, folder management remains unintuitive.
3. Local resources cannot be accessed anytime, anywhere:In traditional methods, files are stored locally, making them inaccessible at all times, complicating sharing, and posing a risk of data loss.
4. Random searches lead to inspiration depletion:Without the assistance of big data and artificial intelligence, architects can only obtain inspiration reference through random browsing and searching, which is inefficient and heavily influenced by luck.
EasyRef addresses these issues by providing clear design resource previews, simplifying the download process, achieving intuitive and convenient classification management, making local resources accessible anytime and anywhere, and solving the problem of inspiration depletion caused by random searches through intelligent search and classification systems, thereby providing architects with an efficient, convenient, and innovative working environment.
